The War Memorial
Redipuglia, Caporetto and Oslavia
8 hour tour
We meet the guide at Redipuglia and walk up through the War Cemetery. The War Cemetery at Redipuglia was built in 1938 and it is the largest war memorial in Italy, it contains the graves of 100,000 soldiers killed during the Great War and the tomb of the Duca D'Aosta, the general of the Third Army Division.
Leaving Redipuglia we head to Caporetto (Kobarid) which is part of Slovenia today. Caporetto was the scene of fierce, bloody fighting and saw the "rout of Caporetto" of the Italian army. We arrive in Caporetto and visit the museum. After the museum we continue our tour visiting the historical sites in the area around Caporetto where there are important historical-cultural or natural monuments.
We leave Caporetto and travel back along the valley of the River Isonzo and return into Italy at Gorizia.
We arrive at Oslavia. Oslavia has a war memorial dedicated to the fallen of the First World War. It was built in 1938 designed by Ghino Venturi.
